If you really knew me

I love these ‘if you really knew me’ posts that are doing the rounds. I enjoy finding out more about my favourite bloggers, hearing what makes them tick, their quirks, discovering their ‘real’ personalities. I thought it’d be fun to share my own version of the post. Happy weekend, xo

If you really knew me…

You would know that I’m a night owl, I like to stay up late and sleep in the next day.

You would know that I adore bright lipsticks, coral, pink, orange, red I have them all.

You’d know how much I secretly love to sing and that I’ve won three karaoke competitions.

If you really knew me…

You would know that I’m a serious worrier, I find it hard to switch off and relax.

You would know that I enjoy my own company, for every minute I spend with someone, I like two to myself. (Excluding the husband!)

You’d know that I have a thing for Vampire programmes, Buffy, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, I just can’t get enough.

If you really knew me…

You would know that I’m a dreamer. I have big things planned for this life of mine! And that one day I’d like to own a business from home.

You would know that I have an irrational fear of aliens, one mention of E.T and I feel physically sick.

You’d know that I was a Grampy’s girl and that my heart still aches for him every single day.

If you really knew me…

You would know that I love to travel and am constantly plotting out places to go.

You would know that I’m learning to speak Spanish and want to spend a few years living in Barcelona.

You’d know that I love being married more than I ever thought possible.

Weekend life

How was your weekend?

Mine was mostly spent snuggled inside with a blanket and giant mug of tea! But on Sunday the husband and I ventured out to my aunt’s house for our annual family bbq.

We had planned on meeting at the beach, but the British weather soon put a stop to that idea! Instead we had a crazy house full of cousins, aunts, uncles and siblings and a giant buffet to share.

I love weekend family time! X

Couch to 5K

I am unfit. Seriously unfit. And I loathe to admit it, overweight. There said it!

I really don’t enjoy exercise or sports of any kind, but more than that I really don’t enjoy how I feel about my body at the moment. It’s sluggish and difficult to dress. It’s my fault that I’ve let myself become lazy and it’s my fault that I let my sweet tooth dictate what I put in my mouth.

You’d think being married to a personal trainer I’d have no problems in the weight department! He’s a great help and is the most supporting and considerate person I’ve met, but I find it impossible to speak to him about my size issues. I think it’s because I’m embarrassed that I’m not the slim girl from 7 years ago anymore.

I want to lose the weight for him, but mostly I want to do it for me, for my health and self-confidence.

So I’m starting the Couch to 5K plan, a complete beginners guide to running designed to get you up from your couch to running 5K in 9 weeks, the sessions break down to 3 a week, the first consists of a 5 min brisk walk to warm up, then alternates of 60 seconds jogging and 90 seconds walking for 20 minutes. I think I can handle that. I’ve downloaded the app on my iphone to tell me when to stop/start and have invested in some new running shoes so I think I’m good to go, just hope I can stick to it! Wish me luck! xo

Happy Father’s Day!

For today’s post, I wanted to share a retro-style photo of my dad and me, but I  couldn’t find one, so I was a bit stumped on what to write, until I saw these prints by Pen & Stitch. I thought the simplicity of the message was lovely, a perfect Father’s day gift.

Here’s my own message to Mark, my daddy…

Thank you dad for being there whenever I needed you, for always picking up the phone when I rang and rushing to my side whenever asked…

For giving me two of the best siblings a child could wish for…

For coming to every drama performance and everything else I asked you to see…

For welcoming Mathew into our family…

For being bank manager, taxi driver and counsellor all rolled into one…

For your sense of humour and fun…

For being YOU!

From experience I’ve learnt that any man can have children, but it takes a special man to be a father, to love unconditionally.

Dad,  Happy father’s day! XX

Sneak peek: Wedding Pictures

Sorry about the lack of posting, my laptop has all but died and posting on my phone is a pain! (Deleted posts galore!)

Mat and I got our wedding pictures back this week and I thought I’d post a few for you today, hope you enjoy them! I’ll be doing a very very long wedding report soon! 😉

The next chapter

So, almost two years after he proposed, I got to marry my best friend. I’m still walking on air five weeks on.

Everyone tells you that your wedding day is the best day of your life and that it goes by in a blur. They’re right, it is and it does! I’m glad Mat and I took some time after the ceremony to slink off and have some one-on-one time. Those moments between us, to share the excitement and awe at becoming husband and wife will stay with me forever. I’m so pleased our photographer was there to capture our joy.

We recently got asked if it feels different being married? And we both responded, yes and no. No, in that it feels the same as it always has for the last few years, (in our minds we were practically hitched anyway by living together!) But yes, in that  everything is now nicely official. We are officially a family, related, bound together. It’s the best feeling and one I’m probably not describing very well.

I revel in the calmness of our relationship. The unity in knowing that no matter what happens, I am his and he is mine. We’re team us, team Richards, as we say.

I feel lucky to have met someone like Mat at such a young age, we get to grow up together and experience life together. We have so many shared hopes and dreams for our future and now they seem like just a step away.

It’s funny that when you’ve been in a relationship a while, people start asking when will there be a proposal and then when’s the wedding? At our reception we were asked when’s the baby? I guess it’s the natural progression of things and who knows what the future will bring, but the possibilities make my heart soar.

XO, Hannah

(Ps. The pic above, isn’t our wedding day, but was taken at my mum’s wedding a couple of years ago; we may look older now and the hairstyles might have changed, but we’re still just as crazy in love… our wedding pictures are coming soon!! x)

This week i’m loving….

I can’t believe another month is over already, how fast is this year going? Here’s what I was loving in March…

20 Questions

I saw these on a wedding forum (strangely they’re not about weddings) and thought they may be a fun post… so here’s 20 questions and answers about me, I’d love it if you’d comment and leave your answers too! I’m so nosy, but here goes…

1. Whats the best book you have ever read?

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, about a futuristic, totalitarian society which speaks volumes about the world we live in today. I’ve must have read it a dozen times.

2. What was your best/worst subject at school?

Best was drama. I lived for performing, shame I haven’t got the time for it now. Worst were  either Maths or PE. When I left school and received my leavers book, (which is a book where each teacher is supposed to leave a list of positive attributes for employers/universities to read,)  my PE teacher wrote one line only saying ‘Hannah sometimes participates.’ Ouch!

3. Whats your favorite meal of the day and what do you like eating?
Dinner is my favourite meal as that one can come with dessert. I have a seriously sweet tooth and have been known to devour a whole tub of Ben and Jerry’s by myself. Ice cream is one of the best inventions ever created.

4. What’s your favorite tv show?
Too many to pick out a single one, but this year I’m into Mad Men, True Blood, Ringer, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, The Vampire Diaries and The Walking Dead. But I am also a HUGE Sex and the City fan.

5. Whats your favorite color?
Changes on a weekly basis, this week, pink.

6. Whats your favorite number?
7, I was born on the 7th September so for me its a lucky number. Quite jealous of Harper Beckham having seven as a middle name, I’d definitely consider that for my kid!

7. What are some of you pet peeves?
People abusing the benefit system. And having to pay NI for said scroungers. Also when M cuts his toenails in the living room… it’s gross! EDIT- As I’m writing this M is yelling at the sports on the telly, he’s such a boy!!

8. What are a few things you like in people?
Good manners, the p’s and t’s make all the difference!

9. Whats are some that you don’t like?
When people swear unnecessarily, it’s vulgar.

10. Do you have any role models?
Cheesy, but my mother. She’s such a strong woman. She recently took a gamble and changed careers, not sure I would have had the same guts and determination as her, but I hope I do. I heart her lots!

11. Whats the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
I once walked into a rather packed pub and sat on a chair which collapsed to the floor in the most deafening of thuds. EVERY single person in the room turned to look at me and laughed. I also had an accident with hair dye at 16 when I was convinced that my dark brunette locks would look way better blonde. It went tango orange… oh the shame!

12. What would you say your personality is like?
According to M, bubbly, friendly… according to me, probably a bit too serious. I also acquire new obsessions, such as wanting a puggle puppy or pashley bicycle… one day!

13.Whats your idea of the perfect date?
My first date with M was pretty sweet, he took me to see The Longest Yard at the cinema, then we had a few drinks at a swanky bar.. not bad for our 18 yr old selves. We still date now and some of the best ones are when we pack a picnic hamper and go lounge out in a park or beach somewhere.

14. If you could go anywhere right now, where would you go?
Thailand, one of my new obsessions. May go later this year, if I can persuade M.

15. What is your favorite time of day?
Bed time, curled up with M chatting about our day, it never fails to calm me. I love those quiet moments.

16. Do you have any brother or sisters?
I’m the eldest of four, I have a younger sister who’s 22. She had meningitis when she was four and has some learning difficulties as a result, she can be testing, as all sisters go, but I love her to bits! I have a younger brother who just turned 20, we’re really close and is developing into a nice young man and I have a baby brother who has just turned 6! He’s got me wrapped around his little finger but I absolutely adore him.

17. What is your earliest childhood memory?
Being pushed in my pushchair along side a canal by my grampy. I was such a grampy’s girl, I miss him so much.

18. What style bag are you using today?
A Mulberry Daria clutch in the Oxblood shade. I love Mulberry bags, only have two so far but have room in my wardrobe for a whole lot more!

19. Whats your favorite season?
Spring, I love the transition from dark nights to longer days, the promise of warm weather, eating outside and the abundance of flowers and pretty clothes. It’s the season of new beginnings. This is why M and I have chosen to marry in spring.

20. What are you doing tomorrow?

Meeting my mum and siblings for a big sunday lunch. I’m going to wear my new purple colour pop jeans and eat far too much so that I may have to undo the top button – always a sign of a good dinner!

So there’s a little bit about me… your turn! x
